Dubrovnik is a city on the Adriatic Sea coast in the extreme south of Croatia. Owing to its exceptional and rare historical heritage, it is one of the most prominent tourist destinations on the Adriatic. Although it has been damaged considerably during the great earthquake in 1667, and during the bombarding in 1991, Dubrovnik achieved to conserve beautiful gothic, renaissance and baroque churches, monasteries, palaces and fountains. Considering the fact that it represents the origin of the Croatian science and culture, in 1979, the city of Dubrovnik joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
